Christmas Eve Westbounds – 24 December 2007

Schriever

Christmas Eve 2007 found at least two westbound trains on the MudBug Sub, and found Jimbaux photographing at least two of them.  Amtrak’s westbound Sunset Limited arrives at its first station stop at Schriever, La., and there are actually several people wishing to board this time.

That’s BNSF Railway train M-NWOSLA (New Orleans, La., to Slaton, Tx.) in the siding, waiting to follow the #1 out of town.

Schriever is a flag stop; so, there’s nobody actually on-duty here, and like you saw recently, there is often nobody waiting for the train, which doesn’t stop in those cases.

This is about the largest amount of people you’ll see at the station here, but I wonder if many people in the Lafourche-Terrebonne-Assumption area don’t realize that you can get on a train here.

It looks like all or at least most of the passengers are boarded now.

So, it’s time to roll out of town!

Chacahoula

Yes, kiddies, you know it.  I’m back in Chacahoula, which I apparently learned as early as 2007 was a great place to photograph on overcast days.  Here’s the #1 and its few more passengers.

While we’re at it, we’ll definitely wait for the M-NWOSLA.  Here it is:

How’s that?  Check out that KCS locomotive trailing the leader.  Those boxcars and pipe loads are cool too, especially spliced by those two hoppers.
