Former Rock Island GP7 In LaPlata, Maryland

[If you just walked away, what could Jimbaux really say, and would it matter anyway?]

That’s a beautiful song indeed.

I Am The Mess You Chose, The Closet You Cannot Close

Nine days ago, for the first time since that very soulful post, which one friend described as the best thing I’ve ever written, I ventured once again down much of the length of the CSX’s ex-Conrail ex-PRR Pope’s Creek Branch.  It was something of an emotional experience for me, though it only yielded one picture.

Shades Of The Rock

In LaPlata, Maryland, there is some sort of stone or aggregate facility.  I don’t think that it’s a quarry.

If I Could Turn Back The Years . . .

. . . there would be more high-nosed Geeps.  Regardless, in LaPlata, there’s a cool, old high-nosed Geep stationed to the facility.  (Any high-nosed Geep in 2011 is old and therefore kind of cool.)

As best as I know, it’s a GP7 which had belonged to the Rock Island (the Chicago, Rock Island & Pacific Railway), and maybe that faded blue paint on it is leftover from the “Bankruptcy Blue” paint that “The Rock” used in its last few years before finally falling apart for the last time.

If You Could Learn How To Forgive Me . . .

Maybe the first commenter in the previous post was right.  A friend said that she wouldn’t have approved a comment like that on her site.  It bothers me not, though a year ago, which was a world ago, it may have.

And We Could Conquer The World . . .

And we can.  Remember that.

Meric boucoup,

Jimbaux

I doubt that the commenter was correct. Many police (obviously there are many exceptions – I have several cops in my family on both sides of the coin) are complete jerks. I’m not sure if it’s the location, or not but it’s definitely in the culture around here.
