Wednesday On Florida Avenue

Or Has He?

It’s Wednesday, and you know what that means: action on the Norfolk Southern.  In this case, these pictures were taken Wednesday 5 October 2011.

This is the beginning of NS’s branch to Chalmette and points beyond, particularly Braithwaite, downriver from New Orleans.

This train is returning to Oliver Yard, which is just across the street to the right, but is parked as it is waiting for permission to enter.

The hoppers carry refined sugar from the Domino Sugar refinery in Arabi.

The bridge in the background carries both the NS and Florida Avenue across the Inner-Harbor Navigational Canal.

Say, Mae

I’m still waiting to see what Mae will write on the sudden loss of our former colleague.  We’ve been chatting, like many of us, and we’re all still in shock.  Friday, we tell Rie goodbye.  It will be tough, but we’ll get through it.  We’re all so tremendously fortunate.  Gratitude.
