A Vist to Señor Oscar’s Business – 7 July 2004

by Jim on 2014/07/07

Señor Oscar invited me to his shop to take some pictures on Wednesday 07 July 2004.  I was delighted to get a first-hand look at a Mexican small business and to see what my host family did for a livelihood.

He operates a custom glass and window shop, but according to him and his son Oscar, nearly all windows in Mexican construction are custom-made, unlike the mass-produced windows in the United States of America, of which they knew to be able to make that comparative statement.

Then, we visit Señor Oscar in his office.

I will always remember him and Señora Gloria, and I visited them when I returned to Mexico in 2006-2007 and 2009.

I seem to remember that this picture was taken on the street near the shop.

After that, I went to explore the eastern part of Monterrey for the first time.  I sought trains, but I did not find any.

Appropriately, the day before I made this trip to Señor Oscar’s business, my Spanish class went to visit El Museo Del Vidrio in the middle of Monterrey.  The glass industry in Monterrey has historically been big.

Stay tuned, for tomorrow has some good train action and an encounter with law enforcement for hunting trains!

A nice chapter on the personal side of your visit, James.
