Today was a heck of an interesting day.
I was able to walk early this morning for about 20 minutes. I walked the neighborhood once.
I washed dishes just in time to leave slightly after 06:30 to get to the office for 07:30. I got there just after 07:00, and it turns out that I didn’t need to be there until almost 08:00, because someone was late.
So, I walked in the neighborhood.
I met with Jenny yesterday, it was a great meeting, it was good. I really like her and appreciate her.
Two days ago, too, was quite interesting, as I got some shots of the Port Rail train in Lake Charles.
There is so much here that I do not know, cannot know, and never will know.
So, the man arrived, and off we went.
He had to mark cased openings. We talked about college, the test, a degree, and work.
I met that dude Cristobal today.
So, then, I went to a party at the office with some chili. That chili was my first meal of the day.
I was invited in and went in just to meet someone else, with whom I will be shadowing next week.
I felt like an imposter there. I met some people, nearly all of whom were very nice to me. There was one person there who made me feel like an imposter, which I kind of am, and I think that it was one of the business family members, which would make sense. I was thinking that people whom I have blocked from my Facebook page are in this room right now.
It was loud at that party, sensory hell. I felt like I didn’t belong there, because I didn’t. I didn’t stay long, because I am trying to keep a low profile.
I walked out of the party and looked at my telephone to read an e-mail from the politician with whom I met two days before. He said that he has been thinking plenty about our conversation, which made me feel great.
After the party, I went and got a few pictures of railroad subjects, though nothing was moving. I got pictures of parked locomotives at Southpark, including the LDRR 1850, which I photographed 20 years ago today and again 20 years ago tomorrow, when I made that epic chase on the Lockport Branch, and also photographed near there 10 years ago today.
I then went to Lafayette Yard.
BNSF 774 and another Warbonnet were in a power set in the northern part of Lafayette Yard in a power set with a Ferromex locomotive, two Heritage 2 Dash 9s, and a Heritage 3 locomotive; so, that’s six locomotives there.
There were 17 new Canadian National Railway boxcars with GTW reporting marks at Sunbeam Lane.
These look great!
I would chase a train of a few of these things a long way.
They don’t yet have graffiti, which is a factor in my willingness to chase them.
I wish that the “CN” logo was a little bit bigger.
I also wish that they weren’t so tall, but this is the best that you can expect for 2023, I guess.
These things might even be on their maiden voyages, and they may not have yet even been on CN rails!
Yeah, I took too many pictures.
These will almost certainly be my last railroad pictures before Christmas, and it’s not looking good for anything before 2024, too.
Right after “Rooster” by Alice In Chains stopped playing on the radio, “Right about now, the funk soul brother, check it out now” started playing.
That’s all for the pictures for today.
I then made my way to my second party, my second Christmas party, of the day. Can you believe that I got invited to attend two parties in one day?
I needed to shave, and I was sweaty; so, I would arrive at the party early and leave the party early.
Today was a heck of an interesting day.
When I returned to the house, one of the first thing that I did was log into my bank account, and I saw two payments that had posted yesterday. Neither were large amounts, but it was a good feeling to see them there. It’s a sign of a more promising future.
This past week, the Jimbaux’s Journal Facebook page got to more than 9,000 followers. I had gotten past 8,000 some time in September. The page is busy now and will be over the next week and a half due to reasons that the Christmas and New Year’s holidays were historically very intense train-chasing times for me.
I got two poboys tonight, but, after eating the first one, I regretted buying two. I could have just eaten a banana to satisfy the remainder of my hunger.
It’s weird that I went to two parties yesterday.
That’s all. Merry Christmas.
