Pablo X-Ray Otra Vez

I got a few shots of Amtrak’s eastbound Sunset Limited at its station stop in New Iberia this afternoon after a consultation session with a candidate.

Food

At first, I went to Whataburger on the corner of Kaliste Saloom Road and Pinhook Road in Lafayette for food.

I wish that this would get old.

Politics

So, I got to The NIB.

The public spending, the likes of which the candidate wants to do, is anti-inflationary!  The meeting was weird.

The candidate’s romantic partner held me to a strict time limit but then kept sucking up time by talking about all kinds of stuff that wasn’t relevant to what I was there to discuss.

A Train!

I left my meeting with the candidate and his people and immediately went to the railroad depot and immediately saw the eastbound Sunset Limited.  I almost missed the shot that I did get, and I didn’t think at first to get a better shot, a telephoto shot, from the other side of the depot, around South Corinne Street.

Taking these pictures after what I had just done made me feel like I was back to being myself again, for better and for worse.  It was like taking a mask off.

Taking pictures of the train felt like reclaiming myself, after that weird ending to the meeting.

That made me realize what this activity of railroad photography means to me, but, now, there are people who live near this depot who know of the me outside of Jimbaux.

It made me realize that I can never totally quit doing this.

That’s it for pictures for today.  The LDRR 3529 was coupled to the LDRR 1717, and that was very mildly interesting, but, other than that, there was nothing else good happening railroad-wise in New Iberia, not even any of those BNSF Railway sugar hopper cars; the whole thing was just boring, which is why it amazes me that, two decades ago, I considered moving here to be closer to cool railroad action.  I am so glad that I moved to New Orleans instead.

All of this made me miss home even more.  If I were still living at home, I’d be able to photograph the Union Pacific Railroad local train basically every day.

As I was leaving, for the first time, I took that road from Cade to Broussard, Louisiana Highway 92-1, and passed by the Episcopal school.

That’s all for today.
