Warbonnets, Foaming, and The Bayou

Doesn’t Anybody Ever Know?

Not being able to easily just get up and go foaming is starting to grate on me.  I’m pondering what I should do about this, indeed.

Warbonnets on The Bayou

Even in 2003, it was rare to see a solid set of Warbonnets leading a train, and they seem out of place in the bayous of southern Louisiana.  I am once again posting scanned slides from my film days; I did this last week with a couple of Mexico pictures.  Anyway, below, you see some of the results of my sanity-maintaining, time-wasting ritual, this time on Sunday 19 October 2003.  This is BNSF Railway train M-NWOPTR, a manifest train (hence the “M”) originating at the New Orleans Public Belt Railway’s Cotton Warehouse Yard on the riverfront in New Orleans (hence the “NWO” origin code) and terminating in Port Terminal Railroad of Houston (hence the “PTR” destination code.)  There’s even a cool GP60M leading this train!  Note the conductor on the radio with the dispatcher.  The Shadow Warrior noted this thing leaving Avondale at 14:47, and it was at 16:25 that I took this picture after the train met an eastbound at Schriever, 45 miles west of Avondale.  Yes, attention to detail is truly a curse.

Will you Berkshire-Hathaway followers please write a letter to your beloved Uncle Warren and please tell him to rename the BNSF the “Santa Fe” and paint all the power back to Superfleet please?  That right there might be all the nudging that I need to move out west!

Ordinary’s Just Not Good Enough

I got to entertain some folks, see old friends, and make new ones with my guitar last night.  I’m learning a few new songs, and today’s song is also on my list.

I’d write more, but I’m just not in the mood now.  In the meantime, please, if you haven’t already done so, share “Write It Down” with everyone you know.  It has now been shared more than 200 times on Facebook, and I need this rap to get big before I can fulfill the requests I have to make another one, which takes investment, of course.
