New Year’s Eve in Nuevo León

by Jim on 2011/01/27

What’s up, kiddies?  How y’all doin’ today?  In case you are wondering, I did indeed get some shots of the snow storm today, and maybe I’ll post them sometime.  It took me about 15 minutes to dig my truck out this morning, but I’m good!

I don’t have much time now, and I need to get to class, but there was a recent request for some more pictures from Mexico (from this posting.)  So, here we go with a few taken on 31 December 2009.

My pal Sinue and I were out foaming all day, but we didn’t catch much, as the railroad seemed to be shut down.  We shot two parked trains, but I’ll post those later.

Above, we see the view looking  south from Salinas-Victoria where the TFM intermodal facility – now KCSM – is.  When I was here in 2004, the second track at left was being installed.  I have some pictures of that event, but they’re on that arcane medium known as film!

Uncle James!

Later that night, it was time for a New Year’s Eve party.  Obviously, I can’t tell you who these people are or where we are exactly other than somewhere in Monterrey, but I can tell you that some of the niñas in the picture refer to me as “Uncle James.”

They’re like a second family to me.  Norteños are some of the nicest people on Earth, perhaps rivaling Cajuns!

The End

Well, it’s not the end of the world, but this was the last picture I took in 2009.  Enjoy it.

Okay, I hope that you’ve enjoyed that.  I need to run off to class now.  Later.

As more than usual, these are great pictures. Heard about the snow and I would have figured classes were cancelled, but I guess not so.
