Raceland, Paradís, and New Orleans – 13 January 2007

by admin on 2017/01/13

According to my photographic records, it appears that I drove my frequent drive from bayouland to Whoadieville on 13 January 2007.  I got, in Raceland, a shot that wouldn’t have been worth the effort had I not been passing through.

Later on, in Paradís, I caught the Chip Local coming through.

‘Twas quite unusual to see CN family gondolas on this train.

Next, we’re back in New Orleans, where we see a meet – likely, a crew stop – at Marconi on the NS Back Belt.

What happens here is that a CSX crew arrives on the westbound train, a Union Pacific crew arrives on the eastbound train, and, if both crews are yard crews, they swap.

This place is special to me.  Thanks for checking it out.

You know this is a special place for me too. It is the first location I took dedicated train pics, back in 1997 after we moved to our place on Orleans Ave. It had changed by 2007, with the addition of the stairs for the crews.

Oh how I miss it, along with the rest of City Park and all the other places I would go to take pictures.
